House Rules

We absolutely cannot accommodate dogs or pets of any kind. We are an allergy sensitive family and encourage guests with emotional support animals and service animals to seek accommodations elsewhere.

Per Park county law, no camp fires are allowed onsite. Use of the indoor fireplace or gas fire table is ok!

Sauna is available at your own risk and requires guest to sign waiver prior to use.

The space
We are remote but not too rustic. The space is an open, sunlight filled mountain home with 3 bedrooms, 2 full baths, and a full kitchen and dining area.

We strive to provide a truly turnkey experience with thoughtful touches and everything you need (because we actually stay here, too!)

The kitchen has new stainless appliances, a crock pot, toaster, plenty of dishes + drink ware, and pots and pans for cooking. You'll also find stocked paper towels, napkins, spices, oils, sweeteners, coffee, and a selection of teas. Or, fire up the gas grill and cook outside!

The bathrooms have ample hot water, and are stocked with shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion, hair dryers, tons of clean towels, and extra paper products.

For families we've got a Pack and Play, High Chairs, Games, Books, and Toys for the little ones!

We have a smart TV with all your streaming favorites, and high speed Starlink internet (it really is remote) and a cell phone repeater to keep you connected if you want to be. There's also a dedicated work desk if you need it!

Relax in front of the gas fireplace, or gas fire table on the deck (by law there are no open fires permitted in Park County while at a STR rental).

If you need to do laundry use the large finished laundry room w/ full size washer/dryer - detergent provided.

In a pinch, we've got some tools and safety gear on site.
• There is a First Aid Kit, and Fire Extinguishers on site.
• Altitude sickness information and supplies on site.
• If snow falls we've got a shovel and emergency sand to help you get moving, and our plow will arrive anytime we have more than 3".

Please note this is a high altitude location, like most of Colorado. If traveling from a lower elevation you may experience discomfort of sickness from the change. We supply information and altitude sickness supplies, but make your plans accordingly.
Guest access
You have access to the full house – excluding locked maintenance closet(s).

In winter, the driveway is continuously plowed + not steep (like many others in the area)
Additional notes
If you plan to ski, we have plenty of storage in the heated unfinished basement for wet gear to dry, and there's a waxing station for a quick tune up!

If you're biking, use the bike stand and pump!

Bristlecone Cabin is truly in the heart of Colorado.

Be altitude aware: this is a remote location at high elevation. It is not uncommon to experience the effects of the altitude in Colorado's high country, especially when traveling from lower elevations. We provide some guidance and supplies at the cabin in the event of potential altitude sickness. Plan accordingly.

Neighborhood overview
Nestled in Valley of the Sun, a peaceful region in the high country south of Breckenridge and north of Fairplay, CO. If the mountains are calling, this retreat is your answer. We are central to most of the best hiking, skiing, and rafting destinations in Summit Park and Lake county.

One of the best things about staying at Bristlecone is that you can visit so many world class ski destinations within a short drive. We're just 40 min to Breckenridge and and average of 90 min to five other resorts without touching I-70's notorious ski traffic!
Getting around
You will need a car. Our roads are maintained by the county. They are rocky in the summer and plowed in the winter. We recommend you bring a 4x4 or AWD vehicle (at the very least). During winter, 4WD is essential!
